Welcome to my site. This site is all about me… so please don’t get me wrong as a self center person, if you find too much information about me!
I see myself getting involve in the game industry as young as grade 8, since there is when I start doing RMT (Real Money Trade) in Ultima Online. Ever since I enroll myself into every possible Beta Test for any MMO, FPS competition, Lan Parties and in no time… I start working in Game Rooms at 18, I work myself up to be the General Manager at the biggest chain less then 12 months.
Yet I believe there is more meaning to my career and I shortly after, I was offered to my first real job: QA tester at En-tranz. I worked on one of the legendary Online game: Shadowbane. It is consider as the one of the most turning point of MMO history. Joining Entranz I was soon realize to be one of the most valuable employee the globally including the dev studio in US. I work my way up to Asia Pacific Team Lead in just 18 months, overseeing QA, CSR, Community and Event and various errand for the whole Asia Pacific regions – HK, CN, JP, TW, SG, KL, AUS & KR. During this period I have the great opportunity to be mentor by legendary names of the industry such as: Harry August Miller, Joe Yabbra, Josh Galloway and Rich Mohan.
After my ride in Entranz, I was offer with huge opportunity to start a company of my own at age 21. It utilize my previous RMT and game dev experience: starting RMT factories in China. That venture I will say it is consider as a finically success but a morale failure. Which led me to drop it when I feel my responsibilities are for fill.
I came back to HK and decide game dev/publishing is my life goal. So I restarted my game dev career and joined Enlight as Associate Producer/Lead QA. I must say this is one of the job I feel I am seriously over tasked and under pay. However it also taught me a great deal of working for local game dev. On top given I am still young and I find the titles in Enlight exciting, so I took on the responsibility. During short period of time, I was involve in Marine Park Empire, Aurora Watching, Bad Day L.A., Trackmania, X3 The Reunion, Zoo Empire, Seven Kingdoms: Conquest… Most important of all working with American Mcgee is truly a blast and great experience. After Bad Day LA, he left for Shanghai and I decide it is about time to move on with my career.
In no time I was approached by multiple local developer due to my International Gaming Exposure. I finally settle with a start up call Duogeo taken the position as Executive Producer/Business Development Director. In Duogeo I created the first web 2.0 social networking gaming centric web site: Feverland with a handful of in-house developed causal games. This is the first time I work on product that is aim mainly for inland (Hong Kong) consumption. It also shows me how much behind the local development is, both quality and knowledge. I finished the first release of the website and the initial 4 games, represented the company in 4 different trade shows: China Joy, AGS, E3 and Movie Festival. The game DXF which is design, score and produced by me is awarded by HK Digital Entertainment Association as best game art style. After the success, people changes so do relationships. As Chinese says, some relationship can only maintain in difficult moments. So I left afterwards then the company fail in the next 6 months after my departure.
I was immediately sniped by another local start-up game developers. Which have BIG vision on Game/CG/Digital Content Aggregator/Investment Consultant company call Phantaxia. They approached me with red carpet and invited me to join as their General Manager. The company have around 20 employee. I created a full international standard preproduction of a MMOG with the help of my lead game designer, aggregated over 150+ gaming contents, produced 1 short feature CG film and provided consultancy for 4 companies. In the same year I was nominated and the youngest nominee in the HK Government support 1st HK Digital Pioneer Award. Yet for some reason funding from our mother company disappear and our CEO “mysterious” disappear with his new love and put the whole company including my reputation in all time low. They even got their names on news…
Due to all these failure, I came to a conclusion. The HK gaming circle not my cup of tea, too much dodgy and amateur running around thinking making game all it takes are few bucks with a gamer’s passion… so I decide to start my own studio: White Hands Creations. A company that provide consultancy including wide range of services to the Asia Pacifc gaming circle. Services include: Creative Directing, Game Design, Business Development, Outsource management, studio management and art directing. The idea was fairly welcomed by multiple studios. In this period, I have created multiple adver-games with 4A and some agency, consulted 3 studio in HK and creating game designs for various venture. At 2007 Sept, I met my next employer: Interzone Entertainment LLC at Shanghai GDC. They request WHC to provide them game design and high level directing on “Economic & Social” sectors. I went to Interzone’s Perth studio for 2 months and created a great deal of game design documents and most important of all solved a lot of the design bottleneck for them. Once I came back from HK, I was offer to manage their China branch office as a overseer. I manage to get them Advertiser and potential investors. In just a few weeks I was on to their executives’ radar due to the level and areas I am am involved. They made a generous offer, no only to me but including my whole WHC staffs. We then decide to move ourself to their China Studio.
I am appointed as Interzone Entertainment’s VP of Greater China and International Spoke person for the corporate. I run a studio with over 70 people building the first 11 aside football MMO – Interzone Futebol. I was the youngest executive in Interzone amount 200 employee worldwide. At Dec 2008, due to the economic crisis hitting hard on us, the corporate decide to retreat from China and maintain it’s fuel in the main development studio at Perth. I was retained to continue my work and represents Interzone for Asia Pacific.
At Mar 2009, I was offer to start up a new development studio in Hong Kong to develop iPhone game.
