Unleashing iPhone’s Power (SMC-VODA)

After many years of torture by the Telco… first it was Sunday>3>One2Free I finally made my 4th hop: Smartone Vodaphone. When I first started using cellphone Sunday is the big one and back then is much simpler. Then when 3G came, I shifted to 3. I have been using iPhone since the 2G days and back then I am already with 3. Even being one of the Priority Customers with all the freebies and so. The service itself is just crap, the internet is slow and sometimes I heard echo on top of everything is expansive. Sometime at 2007 or 8 i forgot… they try to charge me for a ridiculous bill which pissed me off. So I decide u know what since I am getting all these spam already and crap on top the telephone number is a little sensitive let restart everything.

So I went on a quest of searching for a good Telecom provider which can give me a number which pairs with my fiance Jojo… we found a few and I decided on One2Free because they are CSL backed and they claim internet is fast as lighting. This marked my 1 whole year of turmoil… constant disconnected, reception is terrible, internet is slow as hell, GPS is extremely inaccurate, customer service is bull everything is just damn wrong from ground up. On top they aren’t cheapest either… I was swearing and cursing myself for bring such turmoil to oneself. I check every month when does my contract ends and keep nagging to be free!

Finally after months of nagging they let me go… this time I asked around and everyone says: SMC-VODA is the way to go… after doing some testing, checking cell towers, ping test on their wireless, excel comparison on their price and read all those small fine print… I have confirm what most of my friends say is true and make the switch. The switch happen earlier then they promise which is VERY RARE in Telco, they normally only delay, never early! Last night I was at home tethering my phone’s connection to my laptop and frankly I can’t find much speed difference in download rate… it reached 2Mps which is pretty much OK for most use… upload is crap but for a telco is pretty good… What more, the signal is strong in all the dead spots I use to have with my One2Free. On top the plan is only 30 HKD extra but I get unlimited mobile internet usage + unlimited tethering with more minutes and all those small extra service. What more impressive is, they actually have someone on Twitter helping me (SmarTone_Vodaphone)! how awesome is that! I tested their CS today, the wait time is less then 3 mins from dialing to getting a person talking to you. So basically is pretty good so far… one is happy and worry. Happy for the service I am seeing and worrying when or would all these good services eventually goes… Lets see~
